The "Initiative for Mobile Training of Community Radio", or INFORMOTRAC, is an RNTC programme that started in 2002 in Guinea Bissau, Senegal and Sierra Leone. In 2007 the INFORMOTRAC programme was extended to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea Conakry and Liberia. INFORMOTRAC is made possible with funding by DGIS, the Dutch Directorate-General for International Cooperation. It is part of the programme "Strengthening Media, Empowering People" that RNTC has developed in partnership with Press Now.
INFORMOTRAC's aim is to contribute to poverty reduction through the strengthening of the capacities of community radio stations. For this purpose the programme works closely together with networks of community radio stations, regional and national authorities, local NGOs and international development organisations.
Mobile Training
It is not always easy to arrange training courses when one works with a small staff and many volunteers. That is why the trainers of INFORMOTRAC travel to the radio stations. INFORMOTRAC uses a mobile training unit to train people on the spot so that regular broadcasts can remain on air. Each INFORMOTRAC network centre has an up-to-date studio, a team of experienced trainers and a fully equipped mobile training kit. The centre also produces, together with partner stations and commissioning NGO's, radio programmes on relevant issues for the local community.

- Technical training in editing, sound, use of equipment
- Management training
- Audience research and programming
- Enhancing community involvement
- Technical and logistical support
- Radio programme co-productions.
