Couse aim
Computers and the Internet have made it very simple to establish your own Internet radio station. Share your favorite music with your listeners, contribute to the public debate with a discussion programme, make your own campus radio! And so building up experience for a journalistic career. The course familiarizes students with creating an Internet radio station using a personal home computer. It encompasses all the technical aspects required as well as audio production and presentation techniques, followed by feedback sessions in which the students and the lecturer will identify examples of good practice as well as points for improvement. Students will be expected to work both individually and in teams. They will be working towards pre-established deadlines for which effective time management and communication will be essential.
Who`s it for
(International) students with an interest in the use of the audio/radio medium to practice journalism online or on radio.
Learning outcomes
Upon completing the course, the participants will be familiar with:
- the basics of speaking on microphone and writing for the ear
- generating, shaping and presenting a studio-based story for radio
- interviewing and to preparing and moderating ‘live’ phone-in’s and discussions
- the basics of how to record, edit, package and distribute audio via the internet
