RNTC is a centre of excellence in the field of media, development and education.

We design and implement projects that support the development of the media sector and the effective use of media for development. We do this in the developing world and in countries in transition.

Creative Formats in Zambia

More creative formats will be more appealing to the listeners. A Tailor Made course in Zambia will bring more variety and creativity in the selection of formats for radio makers.

More creativity. It was the request from two of RNTC’s alumni, working for Educational Broadcast Services (EBS) in Zambia. Both followed the international course ‘Educational Programme Production’ at the training centre of RNTC in Hilversum, the Netherlands. Together with RNTC, they defined the subject of the course and developed the training programme.

EBS is part of the Ministry of Education in Zambia. EBS produces and broadcasts educational radio programmes on the national radio. At the same time, it offers its programmes to the community media, helping them to diversify their programming.

During the course, programme makers will make themselves comfortable with techniques and theories to devise a range of programme formats, genres and styles.

Also, in the course they’ll learn about the potentials of storytelling. The more powerful a story is, the bigger the impact of an educational programme will be. Emotional engagement leads to excitement and interest and increases learning.

The two week tailor-made course will take place in December 2010 in Zambia.

RNTC has a long history in educating for educational programmes. This course is a first step for RNTC to increase its activities in this area in Zambia.
