"I gained independency with the things I learned at RNTC"

As an independent producer Henny Saptatia (42) assisted foreign journalists in Indonesia during the reforms after Suharto lost power. Her first formal course in journalism Henny did at RNTC, back in 2000.

"I learned how important it is not only to search information, but also check and recheck the information, how to balance news.  I learned what stories to choose, from which angle, and how to write proper proposals of feature and documentary TV programs. Doing so, I gained independency. I earn a better salary after my course in RNTC."

"The application procedure was light, not to say easy peasy. We started with a cultural session, so we could easily adapt to each other. Before we went home, attention was spent on how to apply our skills at home, how to avoid resistance of colleagues who aren't trained. Very useful, I felt. Up to now I¹m still connected to fellow participants, in Thailand, Pakistan, Africa and CIS countries (such as Georgia and Armenia) for example we often encourage each other."

"I took a master degree in Sociology of Mass media in St. Petersburg State University, Russia. In February 2008, I defended my Doctorate thesis on Politic of Mass Media, especially on Media Development. Nowadays, although I work as a lecturer at the Faculty of Film & Television of Jakarta Institute of the Arts, and also becoming the Head of Graduate School of European Studies, I am still producing and making my own documentaries. I am now trying to develops a European Media studies in the Graduate School."
