About us

RNTC is a centre of excellence in the field of media, development and education.

We design and implement projects that support the development of the media sector and the effective use of media for development. We do this in the developing world and in countries in transition.

Projects

Training Institutes

Strengthening media curricula in Surinam

With a new training twinning project between RNTC and STVS, the public broadcaster in Surinam wants to improve know how and professional standards.

Accountability

Reporting in turbulent times

Politics in Latin America are turbulent, these times. How does and how can the media report? These themes were discussed by politicians, journalists and civil society at a series of public debates.

Children and Youth

Youth and violence

Social communication skills and empowerment of expression can help youngsters not to get engaged in violence. Adolescents from marginalized communities in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama and El Salvador participate in a program to make radio shows.

Training Institutes

Strengthening media curricula in Latin America

Universities and schools of communication and journalism in Latin America are not leading. RNTC supports the regional training institutes by face-to-face trainings on radio production, formats and digital tools. RNTC develops innovative hands-on educational solutions, tests them in the field and delivers training proposals to both staff and students at INA.

Gender

Global Media Monitoring Project

Every five years, volunteers monitor a series of important media over one day to see how many times women were quoted and if they were portrayed in a balanced and non-stereotyped manner?

Children and Youth

Conn@ct Now

The Conn@ct.Now programme enables children and young people in war zones to use IT and media to improve their lives.

Training Institutes

Georgian Initiative for the Enhancement of Broadcast Activities

Media professionals in Georgia are operating in a rapidly changing environment. Political changes, the rise of new technologies and the building of a civil society after years of political instability are demanding a new attitude from media professionals.

Gender

Giving women politicians the exposure they deserve

'Portraying Politics' is a video toolkit on gender and television. The initiative is in response to growing evidence of media failure to reflect accurately the role of women on the political scene.

Children and Youth

Young radio makers in Ethiopia report on HIV/AIDS

Can we develop radio formats for youth dialogues, in which young people discuss and try to find solutions for issues that affect them? This project trained young people and radio makers how to produce programmes in which the young people’s voices are heard as they are; programmes with dialogue formats in which young people themselves decide what they want to share and how.

Community Media

Local voices in Indonesia

Most professional broadcast training programmes in Indonesia are organised in the capital, Jakarta. To travel all the way to Jakarta is too expensive for most programme makers and also the trainings do not fulfill their needs. That's why the School for Broadcast Media (Jakarta) and RNTC started the project 'Local Voices'.
